Your colors never cease to amaze.

Illustrator to ink it? I've never encountered that approach; interesting. How so? What are the advantages of it, and what tools?

That is, if you don't mind me asking. =)

Yeah, I opened his JPG in Illustrator, then draw the lines with the pen tool (using various brushes) as if it were a pen. The black flats and hair were vector fills. Then I imported all the lines into Photoshop in about 12 layers, and finshed the gradients and airbrush parts there.
